GUIDE TO VISIT THE VESSEL, IN HUDSON YARDS, NEW YORK

New York has a new attraction: The Vessel, a very peculiar monument-viewpoint in the Hudson Yards neighborhood. And it is that New York is a living city, which is molded and changing in a frantic way, and there is no better example than Hudson Yards, a neighborhood that rose almost "out of nowhere", in the middle of Manhattan. Just two years ago of our first visit to the Big Apple and in this area there were barely a handful of very basic structures where, right now, huge and beautiful skyscrapers are being completed. At the foot of these, we find this wonderful tower. If you are interested in visiting this curious monument, full of stairs and with an aspect that has some spacecraft and / or hive, you are in luck: next we will tell you how to visit the Vessel (free).

We could say that it is a giant sculpture, or a skeleton structure of flights of stairs that don't seem to go anywhere, or a artwork huge ... Or it could also be defined as a lookout, the more you climb, the better views you will have of this fantastic city and the surroundings of Hudson Yards. It is best to say that it is a mixture of all these definitions. What is clear is that it is causing a sensation in New York and after visiting it does not surprise us at all.

There are two ways to do it: book your tickets online or "play it" and introduce yourself the same day you want to visit and check if tickets are available. Let's see both options:

1. Remove tickets online.

If you want to reserve your tickets in advance, all you have to do is enter this website and click on the "book tickets" button. A new tab will open and you will have to get comfortable because you have to queue. Yes, you heard correctly: there is so much expectation generated by this new attraction that you have to stand in line to get tickets ... even if it is an electronic queue 😉

Please note that tickets can be booked only with an advance of 2 weeks (For example, yesterday 09/04 I could only get tickets for 04/23), so be careful when planning your visit. Ideally, enter the web at 08.00 am (NYC time) and wait ... it should take no more than 10-30 minutes to arrive your turn. Then select date and time, and the number of tickets you want. When you confirm everything and fill out a mini form (name, number of tickets, e-mail ...), they will send you the tickets by email. You don't need to print anything: you can show the ticket on your phone and that's it. Eye: you can only request at most 6 tickets at a time.

2. Remove tickets at the same monument

If you are not lucky with this option, you forgot to get the tickets or walk around the area but you did not have time to get the tickets, all is not lost. Next to the structure there will be a worker who takes care of delivering passes for the clueless who do not have their reservations. Of course, they told us that the ideal is to go early as it is easier that there will be more availability and remember that in this way it is NOT guaranteed that there are tickets. The day we visited it was a day in April, and at 11:15 in the morning they were giving passes for the 11:30 visits. But we insist, it's yours to take them online.

Where's Rober?

Here are some curiosities about this monument:

  • It was devised and created by Thomas HeatherwickBritish architect
  • It has 16 levels and 2,500 steps. Come on, you could spend the whole day (or as long as your legs and lungs allow it) going up and down from one ramp to another.
  • It cost about 150 million dollars. Almost na.
  • The March 15, 2019.
  • It opens every day from 10 am to 09 pm and admission is free.

You are right! Cool more than we thought, and considering that admission is free, do not hesitate to include it in your trip to New York. In addition the Hudson Yards area is increasingly interesting, and that has not yet finished 100% brand new. For example, the Vessel's bark has opened Little Spain, a space with typical products of Spain. And one point in your favor is that it is at the end of the High Line, another of the must in New York.

Everything indicates that by 2020 it will become one of the essential New York visits. We are already looking forward to going back so you know, on your next trip to New York don't forget visit the Vessel.
