"It could well be that Lisbon, contrary to what it seemed, was not a city, but a woman, and only loving doom, if the restrictive adverb has a place here, if that is not the only and happy doom."

Saramagor.

Lisbon is one of those cities that simply catch you. It is not a Paris, the most visited European destination, nor a Venice with its romantic gondola rides. In fact, Lisbon has no “star” attraction like the Colosseum, the Sagrada Familia or the Alhambra. What falls in love with Lisbon is its bohemian air, its facades of tiles, the old women who smile at you without knowing you, the cats that walk in front of one of the many viewpoints and of course, the balconies full of hanging clothes (and where there are never missing XXXXL size panties!).

If you are looking for a destination that will make you fall in love with good weather, exquisite food and many things to see, Lisbon is perfect. It is also a cheap destination and within reach of the hand / plane. Covered by 7 hills thanks to which the Tagus River never loses sight, Lisbon is divided into charming neighborhoods with lots of personality, where activities and attractions never seem to end.

Today we are going to tell you everything that the capital of Portugal has to offer ... are you ready to discover the 50 things to see and do in Lisbon?

1 / Upload to Santa Justa elevator to appreciate unforgettable views of the city from its 45 meters high. Free with the Lisboa Card.

advice: If you have little time in Lisbon, a good way to discover the city is to sign up for a tour. This costs € 15, lasts 3 hours and will show you the best corners of Lisbon (guide in Spanish!). If you also want to tour the neighborhood of Belém, you can take a look at this tour. But if you travel on a low cost budget, good news! There is even free tour. Just leave a tip to the guide 🙂

10 / You cannot not commit the “tourist” of taking a souvenir with a replica of the Rooster of Barcelos: essential! Hehe ... come on, your grandmother will like XD

22 / Have a Super Bock beer looking at the Tagus River in Praça do Comercio, the largest square in the city.

33 / Walk through Rua Augusta, one of the most beautiful pedestrian streets in Lisbon.

34 / Watch the sunset in Largo das portas do Sol.

35 / Search (and find) unique corners and hidden that do not appear in any guide (little houses full of tiles, hidden viewpoints, quiet little squares where you can relax, street art ...).

36 / Feel a bit like the Golden Gate of San Francisco going under the April 25 bridge.

37 / And like in Rio de Janeiro thanks to the huge Christ the Redeemer statue (only 20 cm smaller than its Brazilian "cousin").

38 / Visit the Carmo convent, a majestic church that was left homeless in the earthquake of 55.

39 / Take a picture next to the Fernando Pessoa in bronze that "lives" in front of Café A Brasileira.

40 / Enjoy the best views of Lisbon from the viewpoints (miradouros) of the city such as Graça, Sainta Luzia, Porta do Sol, Sao Pedro de Alcantara and many more.

41 / If you think you've seen everything there is to see and do in Lisbon ... run away: near the city there are beautiful places like Sintra, Cabo da Roca, the Arrábida Natural Park, Cascais and Estoril, Fatima, Évora ... if you have time do not think about it!

42 / If you like meat try one Picanha Brasilira (churrasco cut in a special way) ... what memories. When I left the restaurant I weighed 3 kg more but I was happy as a partridge!

44 / The Sundays the museums are free from 10 to 14 ... so you know!

45 / Attend a fado show In some typical tasquinha. Don't you know what fado is ?! It is the most typical music of Portugal: melancholic and popular catches ear and heart. Their melodies will transport you to beautiful and forgotten memories that you know will not return, will make you travel to distant places, relive lost loves and will not leave you indifferent.

46 / Discover the meaning of Saudade: Impossible not to feel it in your own skin when you arrive in the city, and especially when you leave it.

47 / On Tuesdays and Saturdays in the morning visit the Santa Clara Field where is the Feira da Ladra, a second-hand market where to find bargains.

48 / Stroll among the modernist architecture of the Park of the Nations, I remember Expo 98.

49 / Discover la Baixa, the true center of Lisbon, entirely rebuilt after the terrible earthquake of 1755.

50 / Come back! Lisbon is one of those cities that make you fall in love second after second, walk after ride ... I already dream of coming back. Because when the "Saudade" surrounds you there is only one thing to do to relieve it: return.
