Looking for ideas of things what to see and do in Pingyao, one of the most beautiful medieval villages in China? Here we tell you our experience.

PingyaoIt was a certainty of our trip to China. Since we first read that there was a medieval city with red linternitas and wall we had it clear: we had to see it. And so it was: from Xian we traveled about 12 hours by train, how not and when we arrived we were waiting for the owner of the guesthouse where we would stay: the Free Heart hotel, a success! The truth is that arriving from a night trip and not having to look for the hotel on foot or negotiate insane with a tuctuckero, is a luxury!

And at 6am still a little asleep we had the first crush on this city. The first light of the morning, with its golden color, shows everything else magical, So the big Wall that protects the old town, the market, the sellers and the old men on bicycles They looked like old images and we thought we had been catapulted to another distant time. The feeling inevitably vanished later, when, mobiles, motorcycles, souvenir shops and all the frenzy of modern time reminded us that we were in the capitalis China ... ops, current "communist"!

Very touristy, it cannot be denied, but unlike other sites that want to sell as the "most authentic" in Pingyao, for us, some authenticity remains. And it is that only by leaving the 4 main streets you can see on the sidewalks women who prepare food, children who sit in their chair watch the door eating a snack, dogs that go out to explore the territory, dogs that prefer a good nap and Grandparents walking with their grandchildren. And suddenly he comes. The most punk baby in all of China and reminds you once again of the times ... hehe what a majete it was!

We say goodbye to what has been our house for two days and we will take the last Chinese train, and the destination could not be other than Beijing! Chinese capital that arrivesmooooooooooooooooooos !!!!

Transportation How to get to Pingyao?

From Xian we took a direct night train from 20.46 and it arrived at 6am. It cost us 130 And each one in bunk beds

Accommodation Where to sleep in Pingyao?

We stayed at theFree heart hotel, in the center, next to the Harmony gh. The owner has been very kind: she came to pick us up on our arrival and her brother took us to the station at the time of leaving, until he gave us two bottles of water for the trip. Charming hotel and very good food. We pay 98 and double with bathroom, there is wifi.

Visit of the city.

There is a ticket that costs 150 Yuan and allows you to see about 15-20 monuments. We did not buy it, to see things outside it was worth it, it seemed too expensive.
