Due to its location and especially its history, Poland has a gastronomy that has managed to integrate local products and its own traditions with influences from the east and west (Russian, Turkish, Jewish, German ...). The result is a kitchen much more surprising and rich than one expects. In this article we will tell you 15 typical dishes to eat in Poland.

A good idea to try the best Polish specialties is to sign up for a Spanish food tour. There is an option in both Warsaw and Krakow. And for the more brewers, there is also a beer tour in Krakow.

It was the dish we most wanted to try for one reason: we are crazy about ravioli and dumplings! So this typical stuffed pasta from Poland couldn't let us down. What a fuck we got! The pierogis are delicious and very, very varied: the filling can be meat, vegetables (spinach with cheese, potatoes, mushrooms) and even sweet (those of fruit are very good).

They are found in virtually all restaurants and a good idea can be to take them as a snack or as a dish to share with other diners. In addition its price is very cheap!

It is one of the most beloved national dishes of Poland. It is a stew of meat, onion, bacon or bacon, fresh cabbage, sour cabbage (sauerkraut), dried plums and red wine. The most remarkable feature of the dish is its preparation: the longer it takes to cook, it is much tastier.

They are smoked sausages that can be eaten as a main course accompanied by mashed potatoes, chips and / or salad, or can also be found in soups. We tried it in a well-known Warsaw restaurant and it didn't stop us from impacting! Although accompanied by a beer always tastes better.

That of Poland is a cuisine rich in soups (it is not difficult to imagine that with the cold what you most want is a hot soup, right?) And this, the barszcz soup (also known as borsh) is one of the most curious for the foreign palate. Its main ingredient is beets, and it also has cabbage, onions, garlic, potatoes, lemon, salt and pepper. It is usually served with a tablespoon of sour cream.

Although we talk about soups, the Zurek takes the medal of "national soup." It is prepared with rye flour, potatoes, meat broth, hard boiled egg and white sausage. Curiosity: it is often served in a very peculiar bowl ... a round rye bread! It was one of our favorite dishes, look what it paints:

It is clear that in summer you do not fancy any strong soup, but do not worry, because there are options even for the hottest day, such as chlodnik, a cold soup of kefir, cucumber, beet and radish.

It is one of the most popular seconds in Poland. Similar to wiener shnitzel, but more finely, it is basically a breaded and fried pork chop that is served with cabbage and potatoes. The taste is not peculiar, but it is always a success for empty stomachs.

It is very similar to Hungarian goulash but with subtle differences: it is usually served as a stew (and not as soup) and is accompanied by potatoes and vegetables. A perfect dish to regain strength on cold days.

Refrain vegetarians! The golonka is a roasted knuckle that fills even the most demanding diner. You will probably see it on the cards with the price of 100 grams, but the plate can be more than 1 kg! So it is better to ask to share (however, ask the waiter who surely knows how to recommend you).

We continue with meat, this time we recommend this dish based on roasted duck with apple sauce. We think the taste is more exquisite than the previous dish.

Another piece of meat (yes, Polish cuisine is traditionally very carnivorous!). It is a tenderloin dish with plums, very typical for family celebrations. It can be served both cold and hot.

If your potatoes freak out like us, this dish will make you fall in love with the first bite: they are some potato balls / meatballs with bacon / bacon stuffing and fried onion. Perfect to share.

It is a dessert "dedicated" to Pope John Paul II who, as you know, was Polish. It is a puff pastry cake that is filled with cream.

They are the Polish version of the famous crepes. It is one of the best ways to end a traditional meal because who does not fancy a crepe of icing sugar after a meal?

It is one of the richest desserts you will eat in Poland: it is a chocolate cake filled with cream. A heat pump that will not disappoint the sweet tooth.

As you see, the Poland cuisine It is very appetizing (or that is what we think hehe). We have become pierogi-addicts, we have to confess hehe. Do you know more typical dishes of Poland?
