67 days, 15 big cities, countless towns, 27 states, 2 cars and a motorhome, about 100 hours of buses and 15,632 kilometers: they are just numbers, but for us they are much more ... and that is Our trip through the United States has been one of the best in our backpacking life. Many of you asked us about the places we liked the most, so we have thought about collecting Top 10 of our trip to the United States, the best of the best 🙂

Here we go!

We feared the clash with a country that never caught our attention too much, but as soon as we stepped on American soil we felt very comfortable and we had the feeling that, what had just begun, it would end up being one of the most incredible trips of our lives.

Boston was a perfect first stop: not only did it give us the opportunity to begin to understand the culture of the United States, but we were able to dive into its history and ... meet again with an old friend, Noelia.

In general, cities in the United States do not usually have too much personality. On the contrary, many seem to be planned by the same architect, cut by the same pattern. But New Orleans was not like that, this city in the state of Louisiana not only brims with personality, but also has a soul. You notice him walking through its streets, listening to his music, savoring his dishes.

Almost by the same rule of 3, Chicago also appears in our top 10 staff. It is an undeniably beautiful city, which combines huge skyscrapers and beautiful buildings with green parks and beaches (yes, beaches!), With a bean that is a symbol, with an exciting history, and with a thousand and one charming corners (actually we liked EVERYTHING in Chicago). It is also home to the deep dish pizza and to be honest ... with this we had already conquered.

Texas seemed to us one of the most curious states in the United States ... so we went there to discover it for ourselves (and we were not mistaken). We loved it: traveling to Texas is like doing it to a parallel world, where boots, hats, cows or barbecues are the daily bread. But we also found a few unexpected surprises: beautiful green lakes, super friendly people, cities with a strong historical legacy, towns that seem to leave a movie of the Far West ... There was only one negative thing: we lacked time. We will be back.

I still remember when we received the confirmation email: we had a motorhome secured to make a relocation (soon we will talk about this). We had nothing else: no flights, no plan, no idea what would await us, and that was to get that relocation from Forest City (Iowa) to Los Angeles was the trigger to cross the puddle.

Crossing the states of Iowa and Missouri before starting Route 66 allowed us to learn more about "Deep America": we stumbled upon Amish villages, spent the night on the shores of a lonely lake and watched the Champions League final in a bareto from a town full of old people who kept inviting us to beers. Deep America is the other America, far from the skyscrapers of New York and the West Coast Parks. It is real, tremendously real. And we loved it.

San Francisco, look where you look, is a pass. Even its slopes, which will make you want to spit an XD lung, even its climate, that the same gets you as it freezes you in a moment. Stroll through its streets, discover its neighborhoods (each with its identity), visit Alcatraz, be in the cradle of civil movements, feel the Pacific breeze, cross one of the most famous bridges in the world ... goosebumps!

San Francisco surprises you at every step (and also, something very important, we were very well accompanied: thanks for sharing a little trip with us, Ire and Santi).

We wouldn't care about anything, nothing. NA-DA, do a housesitting over there 🙂

It is very generic, we know it. But it is that the West Coast is a real wonder! Although if we had to choose a specific state, we would stay with Utah, and if we had to choose a place, this would most likely be Horseshoe Bend, for how many times you have seen the famous photo, the reality exceeds the expectation, we still feel the tremble in Legs as we peek into its abyss

But of course, we cannot leave out of this ranking other places such as Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Arches National Park, Death Valley, Yosemite, Monument Valley or the Grand Canyon itself. We can't, so the West Coast and its Parks enterita, yass!

Every moment of the 7 days we spent in New York we seemed to be inside a Hollywood movie. And, although it was the first time we stepped on the most cinematic city in the world, we were surprised to believe that I have known it forever. It must be a common feeling for each visitor: we have all traveled to the Big Apple, even from the sofa in our house. It is a city of film so real that it is impossible not to feel its energy and vitality. Everything in New York is possible, even finding so much poetry as concrete.

We are looking forward to returning * _ *

It has been a trip within the trip: touring Route 66 made us go through very rare places (until being swallowed by a blue whale), it took us to meet extra-nice people, to eat in restaurants set in the 50s (ains, those hamburgers that are still noticed in the michelines) and enjoy each of the thousands of miles of asphalt. See how the panorama changes from the window, be accompanied by the infinite trains in the infinite nothing, stop in ghost towns and other very tourist ... buah, it has been an incredible experience and we recommend you all.

The United States is huge and it was inevitable to leave a few things pending. And we are delighted: we already have an excuse to return 🙂 and we will do it, it is very clear.

There are already a few traveling ideas: touring Alaska in a caravan, making a road trip through the north of the country (Yellowstone, we want to meet you!), Kicking Hawaii, returning to New Orleans and from there traveling to Memphis and Nashville, touring the Big Sur , meet Seattle ...

Because there is always a reason to keep traveling!
