Eating is one of our passions. My scale knows it well ... So today we are going to recommend another restaurant in Barcelona that is very worthwhile: we take you on a gastronomic trip to India, thanks to the Bembi restaurant. The word "Bembi" is translated as "navel" and refers to the union between baby and mother. In the same way, Bembi intends to unite India and Barcelona and the truth is that during the time we were in the place we seemed to travel to that exotic and wonderful land.

The place is really nice and cozy, also the service is attentive and very nice. As soon as we looked at the letter, we didn't know where to start: we liked it all! Of course to drink we already knew we wanted to try a very cool Kingfisher ... and Kingfisher was!

Still with doubts about what to eat Sanjay wine, who kindly attended to us and suggested trying the tasting menu and we are right! Everything was delicious. We are already looking forward to returning to try more. Here is what we have eaten:

INPUTS

The dish consisted of tapas from some typical Indian cuisine starters:

  • SAMUDRI RATTAN: Grilled scallop with saffron and garlic sauce. Very good, we are looking forward to more.
  • PUNJAB SAMOSA: Samosas are one of the favorite snacks for Indians. They are fried empanadilla and in this case the stuffing had potatoes, peas and spices, but there is also a carnivorous version! Very rich The red sauce that you see in the photo is tamarind sauce.
  • LASOONI MURGH TIKKA: Of the 4 starters it has been the one we liked the most. It is chicken marinated with yogurt and garlic cooked in the oven tandori. Delicious!
  • LUCKNOWI SEEK: a spicy lamb skewer, very tasty. To make it even better, try it with mint chutney: mmm!

Sanjay also made us try the Nan, the famous Indian bread. The nan is usually eaten as an accompaniment to curries, sauces and chutney but also "naturally" is to suck your fingers. I like it a lot, but Rober is a true Nan-addict ... he is like a dog with his bone.

MAIN

Finished the starters, it was time for the Thali. You do not know what it is? Thali is one of the most typical Indian foods: it consists of a selection of different dishes (usually curries) that are served in small bowls and accompanied by rice and nan. It can be vegetarian or meat.

The one we tried had:

  • SAAG PANER: fresh cheese with spinach sauce. Very good: it was what Rober liked best.
  • MURGH MAKHANI: chicken with tomato sauce and butter. The sauce with the rice is divine!
  • NARUYAL JHINGA: curried prawns with coconut sauce. It is a typical dish of the Kerala area. Personally, it was the one I liked the most: a unique flavor that I had never tasted… if Indian cuisine is fabulous!
  • KOHE ROGANJOSH: curried lamb stew with tomato, ginger and Kashmir chilis. Mmm I ate one right now!
  • RAITA: a sauce that almost always accompanies thali. It is made of yogurt and cucumber and to relieve spicy it is essential…

How good everything was! Also, do not forget to try the sauces that accompany the dishes: mint, mango and spicy chutney.

We were already delighted with the food and the button on our pants was about to explode when the surprise of the night came: the super dessert! And with the picture I had, we unbuttoned the button and took the spoon ... My mother, how delicious it was!

Gulab Jamun is one of the most popular desserts in India. And I know why: this sweet made with milk powder and flour is requetebueno! It is fried and sweetened with sugar and rose water. Also mixed with ice cream was really amazing. Come on, we loved it and I know that in November when we are backpacking in India we are going to gain a few kilos!

You know, if you want to travel to India without leaving Barcelona, get close to Bembi!
