Day 5: MARRAKECH - GIRONA

November 1, 2011

This morning we wanted to take advantage of the bed a little more. Last night we set the alarm at 8 in the morning and in the end we went down to breakfast at 9.30. Although we want to take advantage of our last day of our trip to Morocco and today we have a main course as is the Badi Palace in Marrakech, we also want to make "a little lazy" that we are on vacation.
Before going to breakfast we have taken the opportunity to climb the terraces above Riad Assalam and after checking that at night they are spectacular we have discovered that they are amazing during the day !!

After breakfast we have gone to make the last visit of the things we had scheduled for these days in Marrakech, we have gone to the Badi Palace in Marrakech, which is less than 5 minutes walk from our Riad.

Once at the door and after paying the 10 dirhams per head, we have found a completely destroyed palace, but imagining a little, we can get an idea of how it could have been once ... sure it was an extraordinary place.

The truth is that today the sun is quite touching and here there are not too many places to take shelter, so we visit it in a time more than prudent to avoid scorching.

It's already after 11 in the morning and we decided it's time to go back into the souks of Marrakech, to buy the last things we have pending.
And there we have crossed all the bikes, scammers ... etc. that had ... hahaha If we wanted to forget that new image we had, it has not been possible for us to do so.
We cannot generalize, but one of the things we have observed these days is that the treatment they offer to tourism in the souks is, at least, quite aggressive.
Even on some occasions they have come to insult if you say you do not want to buy because they do not reach the price you find logical.
These kinds of things make us despair from time to time and decide that it is already good shopping.
Although without a doubt, we have impressive snapshots of our visits to the souks ... and just for that reason it is worth the visit and spend some stress.

We return to the square, have a drink and wait for lunch time.

"Square"

Buggy in Jamaa el Fna Square

Today we approach the Terrazas de L 'Alhambra restaurant for the second time, where we eat 2 pizzas, a coke and a water for 188 dirhams.
We look at the clock and it's 3 in the afternoon, so we go to Café Glacien in Jmaa el Fna Square to have tea and coffee for 30 dirhams.
There we have spent the rest of the afternoon, observing the movement of the Plaza, but this time without mixing "with it" today we have been too stressed the atmosphere and now we prefer to say goodbye from the distance.
Around 4 in the afternoon we return to Riad Assalam to collect our luggage and return to the area of the square where the bus stop is bus number 19 that will take us to Marrakech airport.

It took us 20 minutes to get to the airport and we entered what we call no man's land. Here everything changes, the prices go out of "pot" again, the staff does what is expected of them ... everything seems done to make you feel comfortable, but at the same time you feel that everything is a lie ...
Now we can only wait to embark and return to our "life" ... but we will return ... we do not know when, but yes ... although in some moments we have felt uncomfortable with some situations, we will surely return, but this time it will be to travel the country ... as always, at our leisure!
And now ... to fly back home !!!

Until next time… Mint tea
