TRAVEL PREPARATIONS

This getaway began as most of those we have been able to do this year began, Switzerland, Amsterdam, Cinque Terre and crossed out days on the calendar.
We realized that the last days we had left on vacation for this year we could fit them perfectly in the Christmas days, between 24 from noon until December 28 which is Sunday.
From here we began to go around looking for a destination that offered us what we have sought in recent years at this time, which is to get away from the Christmas holidays that we personally do not like too much.

We knew that especially in those days the flights soar so we did not lose sight of Best Flight and so we found the perfect destination to spend those 5 days and at an unbeatable price.

Tanneries of Fez

Let's go to Casablanca, Meknès and Fez!!

We will enter Morocco through Casablanca, where we will arrive on December 24 at 12 pm, so that day we only have to go directly to our accommodation.
The idea is to visit the city and its most important places, such as the Hassan II Mosque, the Old Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, Mohammed V Square and later, in the early afternoon take a train that will take us from Casablanca to Meknès, the second point of our trip to Casablanca, Meknès and Fez in 5 days.

Hassan II Mosque in Casablanca

We will spend the rest of the afternoon knowing Meknès which is a World Heritage Site, where we want to approach such emblematic places as the Mulay Ismaíl Mausoleum that houses the tomb of the Mulay Ismaíl, the Néjjarine Mosque, the Great Mosque, the Jamaï Roua Mosque, the Dar Jamaï Museum, the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Filalia Madrasa, the Bab Mansour, the Dar El Makhzen Palace, Koubat Al Khayatine, Bab Lakhmis ...

Recommended travel cards

Remember that in order not to pay commissions and always have the current change we recommend you use the N26 card to pay and the Bnext and Revolut cards to get money at the ATMs. They are the ones we use, They are free and will save you a lot.
You can find more information in this article about the best cards to travel without commissions.

Already when we start Prepare a trip to Casablanca, Meknès and Fez in 5 days We knew that with one afternoon we would not have enough to see everything we wanted in Meknès, so we will extend our stay by staying in the city and so we can take advantage of the morning of the third day continuing the visits and probably, if it gives us time and under the recommendations of many traveling friends, we will approach Volubilis, the largest Roman settlement in Morocco.

The Medina of Meknès

From here, without knowing exactly the time, although we calculate that it will be about noon, we will take another train that takes us from Meknès to Fez, which will be the city that welcomes us the next two nights and from where we will depart again heading home on December 28.

In Fez we have chosen a Riad very close to the Medina as accommodation, since after the experience in Marrakech we were more than satisfied with this type of lodging and we did not see the time to have the experience again.
We have made this reservation through PSP Travel, a Catalan agency, led by a Moroccan who has not only given us the best price and detailed information of the city, but we understand it is one of the best ways to help businesses premises so that they continue performing their services.

The Medina of Fez

In Fez we have in mind many places to visit as Fes el Bali, the medieval medina of the city, El-Qaraouiyyîn Mosque, Batha Palace Museum, Bou Inania Madrasa, Ech-Cherabliyyîn Mosque, Nejjarîn Museum, El-Attarîn Madrasa, Andalusian Mosque, Es-Sahrij Madrasa , the Merinid Tombs, Fez the Jedid, the new Fez medina ... we hope to have time to do it in the two and a half days we will have before returning home again.

And so, after Prepare a trip to Casablanca, Meknès and Fez at Christmas, on December 24 will begin our #MoroccoTrip
